About Us History
Back in 1949 when Thompson Lane was just a little two lane road, Robert Walker bought the old Coleman Lumber Company, and started selling oak flooring in Nashville and the surrounding area. Mr. Walker joined the Ace Hardware co-op in 1966 to better serve his customers by providing local builders with their hardware needs. In 1973, he sold the business to his son-in-law, Bob Harwell, who has grown Walker Lumber & Hardware into the lumber company it is today, carrying on the value of exceptional customer service while providing superior building materials. Still on the original property at 527 W. Thompson Lane, Walker Lumber and Hardware is big enough to serve Middle Tennessee's finest builders, yet small enough to make the local homeowner feel like they never left the neighborhood.
